My wife and I started Hanif’s in 1985 after working in my parents grocery store in Edmonton through my teenage years. I was inspired by the curiosity and sense of adventure our customers had as they used such a variety of ingredients in their daily cooking.
I had seen first hand that there was a captive market for specialty ingredients as the demographics of Canada changed and new cuisines began to emerge and enter the mainstream. Real Hanif’s represents my passion for finding and working with the best suppliers across the world to enhance any dish with the best flavours and textures so that everyone can cook like a chef.
